Miami Attorney Hosts African Broadcasters 2290 Reads
NewsMiami Entertainment Attorney Nina-Dawne Williams hosted a luncheon to welcome 14 radio broadcasters from Africa. The group represented 13 nations on the Continent and was sponsored by the United States Department of State through the Miami Council of International Visitors.
Jerry Rushin, Vice President and General Manager of the local Cox Radio affiliate and Senior Marketing Executive Abdul Muhsin welcomed the visitors to the home of radio station WEDR and Hot 105 on the morning of August 14, 2008. Mr. Muhsin gave an extensive tour throughout the facilities answering inquiries regarding technology, marketing, demographics and music programming. Mr. Rushin shared the wit and wisdom of some 35 years in radio broadcasting. After a brief photo session and question and answer period, the broadcasters, State Department officials, Ms. Ayesha Quirk of the Miami Council of International Visitors, real estate maven Mrs. Yolanda Washington of Forbes Realty, Inc. and Ms. Williams shared an authentic “soul food” experience at The Mahogany Grill in Miami Gardens. The African broadcasters indicated that this was their first encounter with African Americans in the media/entertainment industry since their visit began some 10 days ago and were delighted to socialize in an African American environment. The group departs for their respective native lands on August 16, 2008.
